April Newsletter

Thank you so much to everyone for attending Parent/Teacher interviews. Please feel free to contact me any time you have questions or are wondering about the progress of your child. Together we can give your child a great education!

We will wrap up our study of “The Sky” this month and shift our focus to Easter! April is also Dental Health month and the children will be learning about the importance of keeping their teeth clean and the best ways to brush and floss. We will study the letters I i, N n and E e and continue exploring Geometry and Measurement in math with a focus on the concepts: longer, shorter, empty, full, less, more, smaller, bigger, almost the same, heavy, heavier, light, and lighter. We have also been participating in a variety of “mental math” games and math games using manipulatives. We will continue to play these at school this month, as well! We’ve started a great discussion on the culture of First Nations people in our classroom this past month and we have been learning about the significance of the circle and the number 4. Very soon you will see an activity we’ve been working on at school, come home. Be sure to ask your child about what they’ve been learning!



Reminders:

1). There will be an Early Dismissal on Thursday, April 14th, 2011 @ 12:10.

2). Library is each Day 1. Books are due back on this day.

3). Our Kindergarten Graduation date is now set. The special day will be Monday, June 27th, 2011. Our exact time is not yet set, but it will be either at 9:15 or 9:30 and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Students will be dismissed to go home with their families after the graduation to begin their summer holidays! Be sure to put this date on your calendar!

4). Our school Easter break is Friday, April 22 to Friday, April 29 inclusive. Our first Kindergarten day back after the break is Monday, May 2nd , Day 5.
